The well known television personality and broadcaster, Martin
King, was host and Quiz Master for his first time in this nerve-racking two
and a half hour grand final. This year over 100 school teams from all over
Ireland qualified for the final stage of this 19th Annual Credit Union Schools
Quiz competition. The winning schools successfully beat off determined
contestants to take the popular All-Ireland titles in the Under 11 and Under
13 competitions.
Commenting on the Quiz, Quiz Master Martin King said, “I am
delighted to be involved with the Credit Union Schools Quiz for my first time.
Congratulations to the two winning teams and I look forward to seeing all the
teams again.” Mark Bailey, President of the Irish League of Credit
Unions, presented the winning teams with their team trophies and individual
prizes. Winning schools were also presented with cheques for €1,250.
Speaking at the presentation of prizes, Mark Bailey said,
“Credit Unions take great pride in the success of the All-Ireland Schools
Quiz Competition. It is one of the most successful sponsorships undertaken by
the Credit Union movement and represents family, youth and the community;
which are the core values of what credit unions are about. I would like to
thank the communities all over Ireland for your loyalty and goodwill towards
this initiative over the past 19 years and I congratulate all teams that
participated in the final today, especially to the two winning teams. The
exceptional knowledge and determination of all teams that took part in the
final are a credit to their schools and teachers. I hope that the quiz was an
enjoyable occasion for the participants and their families and results in many
happy memories and friendships.”
